▲ Today, like every day, Airi could be found making her way from the kitchen to the main rooms, constantly checking on the ability (or lack thereof) of the men she'd managed to hire to keep her small inn up and running with enough food to keep everyone happy. It wasn't that she hadn't planned well; in the beginning Airi had hired only the best to work at Honey Breeze. Unfortunately for her, The Best had decided just a week ago that they'd fallen in love with some passing rich girl who was there to poke fun at the 'savages' who lived in the strange houses here on Evter Island (something Riri wanted to wring her fool neck for. She didn't consider any of the locals to be savages in the least. If anyone was a savage on the Island it was idiots like that woman and now her missing in action chef) and had run off with her to elope. Honestly Riri wasn't sure that they'd last, but there was nothing she could do about that now. Because of him, however, the owner of the only inn on the Island was faced with a problem. The man she'd managed to acquire on such short notice was really awful at well... everything. It was a wonder he even knew how to boil water, all things considered. She had to spend so much of her time watching over him like a Braviary that she hardly had enough time to keep an eye on the rest of Honey Breeze. Honestly, if she had to cook another meal for the incompetent man in the kitchen she was likely to scream. She never screamed. If anything she prided herself on her ability to always keep cool and happy with a smile on her face. After all, very little bothered the woman. She wouldn't have made it this far in life if she let every little thing get to her. (Not that this was a little thing, but still.) It was after one such frustrating lesson in the kitchen that she'd stepped outside to cool down, leaning back against the solid walls of her home as the scent of honey wafted over her. She really was going to strangle that man soon. She'd have to find someone new, and fast. His cooking alone was enough to make the place go under if a murder rep didn't do it first. MADE BY VEL OF GS

| Marco had gotten up fairly early today in order to get his morning exercise and then explore the Island and the new things it had to offer. He wasn't more than two days on the Island, but he was fairly excited from all the things he had managed to get a glimpse of and the feelings this land gave him.
Today, time was going to be dedicated to new foods, flavors and scents. He needed that after the food he had tasted here at the Inn.
The place was beautiful in Marco's opinion. The scent of honey wafting from the various Combee swarms made it the best place to draw inspiration for his deserts. The only downsize here was the food. So today, Marco was going to ask the owner and the chef if it would be okay for him to use the kitchen in order to prepare his own food, made from some local materials bought from the more open-minded tribe members.
He took in a deep breath to enjoy the air and reinvigorate himself. "This is a beautiful scent of honey. Isn't that right Candy?" He asked his Slurpuff friend. He really trusted her nose because, even among Slurpuffs, Candy had a particular and well developed interest in deserts and how they were made. Candy nodded in agreement and sniffed the air, closing her eyes content.
A small white head poked out from the blue bag he carried on his right shoulder. A cry of joy and another sound of air sniffing made Marco look down and laugh. "You want to make some honey ice cream Ice?" He asked and the young Vanillite nearly jumped out of the carrier bag in joy and excitement.
A sigh made him snap his head around. Sighing didn't suit this place in his opinion. He saw a woman leaning against the wall, looking frustrated for some reason. Angry even. He recognised the female owner of Honey Breeze and he made his way there. "Are you alright Miss? It's a shame to not enjoy this beautiful day." He wasn't going to ask for permission to enter the kitchen. Not before making sure she was alright. That was something that could wait. |

▲ Head snapping up at the approaching footsteps Airi did her best to not look startled. It was rather unbecoming of the owner of an establishment to show any sort of temperament issue - anger or fear or otherwise. It made one look unprofessional and when people saw that, they were less likely to want to return to, or respect, the establishment and their staff. Taking a deep breath she pushed a wayward strand of black hair from her face, flashing the man a smile that didn't manage to light up her jade colored eyes. She really was going to have to strangle that pathetic excuse for a cook sometime today, and give up and make dinner for everyone herself. Nora's hands were full dealing with those few stupid trainers and civilians who ignored warnings and went directions they weren't supposed to only to become enraged that they or their Pokemon got hurt for their own foolish actions. "The day is lovely, isn't it?" Airi glanced up at the leafy canopy above them, taking only a bit of pleasure in the sight. "Is there something I can do for you, Sir? Everything here to your liking?"MADE BY VEL OF GS

| Marco shared an unconvinced look with Candy, but he quickly turned his attention back to the woman. He smiled assuringly and lifted his bag slightly, Ice's creamy head poking from the flap that was half-closed. "Everything so far is exactly how I would imagine my trip to be. My pokemon and I had a great time exploring today and I found several food materials to use." He assured her. Candy and Ice added their own pleasure to Marco's statement. Ice even did a quick laughing circle around the girl before diving but in the bag.
"I was wondering if I could use your kitchen today? To be honest the food is a little... lacking and I came across some fresh produce I would like to turn into a nice Island meal if your chef is okay with it." He told her honestly, trying to not offend the woman. "Ah, I can promise there will not be any damages done and I will clean afterwards. I worked as a chef in multiple restaurants so I know my way around a kitchen." He added for good measure. |

▲ Pleased by the fact that Marco had enjoyed his time to date, Airi found herself opening her mouth to respond only to snap it close as he continued. His Pokemon were cute, the little Slurpuff and Vanillite so at odds with how he looked, though oddly fitting for him, she thought. After all, no one would think that she had two Ghost Pokemon. Their creepy aura and very nature were so at odds with her personality that most people just laughed when she mentioned her two thinking she was joking. "I'm sorry we don't allow guests too..."Airi's voice trailed off, fully catching on to the rest of what he had said. He'd been a chef? And was just here, on the Island? In her Inn? Maybe the Fates really were listening to her pleas. A slow, honestly happy, grin began to break out across her face. "Please, call me Airi. There's no need to be so formal with me you know."She glanced at the shut door that she'd come through to cool down, lowering her voice ever so slightly. "I do apologize for the food. I assure you that usually Honey Breeze is much better but our previous chef quit suddenly without warning and the man who's taking over is..."Her nose wrinkled as she searched for the right word that wasn't too horrible and impolite to use. "Not what I would have picked, that's for sure."MADE BY VEL OF GS

| Marco smiled as the woman told him to call her Airi. "It's nice to meet you Airi. My name's Marco Brightfeather and this is Candy and Ice." He intorduced himself, his Slurpuff and Vanilite in order. The two pokemon waved in acknoledgement of their names.
Marco tilted his head at the obvious displeasure Airi was showing towards the current cook. "No no. It's perfectly fine." He said quickly and rubbed the back of his neck. "I can understand that the transition from one chef to another can be difficult. Especially in such a remote place." He assured her.
"I was simply hoping I would get to cook while I was here. The whole point of this journey was to meet new people and draw inspiration for my work...." A snort and a quick pokemon comment from Candy made him laugh awkwardly. "Not that I currently have one, but still." |

▲ She hesitated a moment, staring at both of his Pokemon as she found herself lost in thought. A few moments in she realized she was being rude and with a small shake of her head to clear it the woman once again smiled, this time lighting up her eyes with the force of it. "Candy and Ice, perfect names for very lovely Pokemon." Her eyes flickered over to the forest, sighing ever so slightly. "My two are likely hanging out with the Combee again..."Giving a sharp nod as if she'd decided something, Airi looked back at Marco, smoothing down her skirt and flicking away a small speck of dust. "Would you... like to cook tonight? Nothing fancy, just whatever you're making." Her gaze flickered back to the door, annoyance clouding her jade colored eyes. "If you're perhaps interested in a job, Mr. Brightfeather, and your food is better than what that slob can make, I might... be inclined to hire you?"She looked back at him, smile turning slightly sheepish. "That is, if you are looking for a job. Something tells me that your food will be just fine, so in the end it depends on you..."MADE BY VEL OF GS

| Marco was confused at the sudden change of mood, but once Airi's proposal sank in he beamed at her and looked at his pokemon who seemed equally excited. They had said something along the lines of staying for a little longer than planned. To actually get to work here, made Marco feel like part of his dreams were coming true. Sure at first he worked from place to place just to gain experience and save up enough money to set up his own business, but working here felt like it would have more meaning.
There were still a lot to be done to be able to bring together the tribes and the people of Cyal. It was more often than not that people who came here had difficulty understanding the cultural differences. Marco could present one such aspect of the Tribes to the people who came here. He hoped he could get to sucessfully merge tribe cuisine and Cyal cuisine while also presenting traditional Tribal dishes from time to time. He was planning to do so anyway once his vacations were finished so why not do it here? Where the land certainly added to the feel and his resources would be as genuine as they could possibly be?
"I think we will take you on that job offer Airi!" He smiled at her. "And please, call me Marco." He added as Candy and Ice added their own agreement in taking the job. "I'm afraid something fancy is definitely going to be in for dessert, but I'll be happy to cook tonight. I just need a few pointers so I can set up a menu. If I'm going to do this, the least I can do is be professional about it." He said and his tone sifted ever so slightly in a more serious and professional one than the laid back he was using moments ago.
"How many people will I be cooking for? I would also like to see the kitchen sooner rather than later. Your chef shouldn't worry though, I always carry my own set of knives and tunic so he doesn't have to share." He had more questions, but they could wait. He didn't want to overwhelm Airi and some of his questions would be answered as soon as he ste his foot in the kitchen itself. |

▲ "There aren't a whole lot of people staying, right now." Airi smoothed down her hair, fingers twitchily playing with the ends of her braids a moment. "Ah, not because this isn't a nice place to stay. But as it's the middle of the week, less people are free from their jobs and went home already. More are booked for this weekend so..."She counted silently in her head, going over the math a moment. "Besides the five other guests - not including you - and a few members of staff and our Pokemon, there isn't a whole lot to do?" Airi hesitated, looking over at him out of the corner of her eye. "Is that going to be a problem? Mr. Br-, Marco?"She could cook, and often did take the time to make everyone their Pokechow simply so that the remainder of the staff could focus on other things. Nora had helped with the recipe and made sure that it was highly nutritious for each type involved changing small things here or there as needed for the different dietary needs of everyone. Unlike many places, however, Airi felt that her staff deserved to eat the exact same food as the guests; they worked hard and there was no point in making two meals when you could easily just make a larger selection of whatever prime choice those who were paying would be given. For one, it helped boost moral and two, good food was just good food. Who was she to tell those who she relied on to keep everything running that they couldn't enjoy some of the little things in life? Of course, with this current temporary chef, no one really wanted to eat the food to begin with... MADE BY VEL OF GS

Hehehe! Imma make pizza along with a few other options XD
| Marco shook his head. "No it's not a problem. The only reason I'm asking is so I can estimate the amount of food I need to make. I have my trusty assisants right here!" He assured her and patted Candy's head and glanced down at the peeking Vanilite.
"And, well, visiting the kitchen would give me a clue as to where is everything and what equipment I will have at my disposal. That will make the difference between good food or burnt food and the need to start over on a meal, which would lead in delayed orders." He explained and seemed to be thinking over his options for a menu.
"By the way... You wouldn't happen to know if anyone is vegan here would you? I was going to prepare a vegeterian plate just to be on the safe side, but vegans are even stricter than what I have in mind to make..." He honestly wasn't expecting her to know but, if she did, it would be a major help.

▲ "Come and inspect the kitchens then," Airi casually turned, pushing open the door that she'd been standing in front of the whole time. The back side of Honey Breeze was almost completely different than the front. Not because of how it was built; Airi hadn't bothered to spare expense on the staff section of things for the same reason she didn't bother to force her staff to eat something different. It just wasn't worth making those who worked for her feel like second-class in comparison. They knew they had jobs to do, but that didn't make them any worse than those they served. And so Airi never bothered to change anything. (Although, she'd probably admit that their bedrooms were a little larger than those of the guest who stayed in any of the basic rooms. Mostly because, as she'd point out if ever asked, her staff had to live in their bedrooms full time. What was the point in giving them a smaller living space?) The difference was the energy in the back of Honey Breeze. Everyone bustled around doing what was needed to be done to keep things running smoothly. (Unless you happened to be the current chef. Damn, just thinking about him again was putting her back in her bad mood.) A level of energy that most on the surface never got to see. It was her hive; just like the Combee who's land she had built near and named it after. "I don't think anyone here is completely vegan? Nora - ah, our healer? - prefers veggies and raw foods over cooked but she does eat meat from time to time, so long as it's not overly greasy and just... " Her nose wrinkled, thinking of the meals they'd had for the past week. "I wouldn't mind tasting your vegan dish, however, if you were thinking of preparing one."Taking a deep breath she pushed open the door to the kitchens, ushering Marco inside. MADE BY VEL OF GS

| Marco followed Airi inside and he looked around curiously as he weaved through people busily going about their work. The energy that was coming out of this place made him smile. He hadn't worked for a hotel before, but seeing everybody so busy reminded him of his days as a chef in a very popular neighborhood Pizza house in Lacolle Town.
"Well, I was planning on making pizza and pizza has cheese in it. Vegans avoid that. Some other alternatives I had in mind have milk in the recipe and well... you get my point. I think I will find something that can work for your healer as well. My only problem is to choose one recipe over another when there are so many options!" He said excitedly. He always was excited when he talked about food and the bustling beehive of a hotel added to that.
Candy followed them about, excited by the vibrant feelings she was getting from everyone, but as the door to the kitchen opened, her excitement faded into despair. For her sensitive nose this was already a nightmare. Marco noticed her scrunched up face and braced for impact as he was ushered inside the kitchen. |

▲ The small smile on her face from how excited Marco was about the concept of cooking pizza (a fact, Airi knew, that Nora would be thrilled about) faded fast the moment she actually led him into the kitchen in question. It was supposed to be a wonderful place and although she made damn sure that it was kept clean and all the supplies were fresh, the energy and often-times smells from the place were enough to turn her stomach and make her scream silently into her pillows at night. "Feel free to uh, poke around..." She trailed off, eyes locking into the Worst Thing Ever across the room. Unconsciously she curled her fingers into clenching fists, taking deep breaths in an attempt to calm herself. With an ever so slightly polite nod she left Marco to whatever it is he wanted to do next, all but gliding over to the Worst Thing Ever. Keeping her voice low it was clear from her body language that she started a soft if not angry, argument with the man that was the cause of all her troubles again. a touch of cream @banboo No worries Ban. I hope you get well soon! Take your time to recover.
| Marco could understand the anger Airi had. The man she was probably 'scolding' at this point was clearly not suitable for running a kitchen. The whole place felt disorganized and the smells didn't exactly help to consider it as 'creative mayhem'. However he turned his attention away from his future employer and the man he was hopefully going to replace and looked at the Kitchen.
He began roaming the room, checking the oven capacities, the grill and getting the general layout with the sinks, counters and various racks, trying to commit them to memory so he would be able to move around with more ease when he was going to cook later on. Candy was following him around, she too looking over the various equipment and getting acquainted with the various new scents of this place, both pleasant and not.
Marco then quickly turned his attention at the various pots, pans and laddles hanging from hooks above the working stations. He shook his head, mentally listing all the equipment and then went off to find the freeze store area.
Candy was the one to point the door out, using her keen sense of smell. The blonde chef thanked her and the two of them quickly slipped in. Marco quickly went over the supplies and he smiled to himself. He had everything he needed and then some. His smile only grew as Candy seemed to be delighted by the quality of the ingredients. That only left one question in Marco's head. How's someone able to cook such poor food with so good ingredients?
His mind already was brewing a full menu as he got out of the storing room and waited for Airi to finish her talk with the current chef... was he even allowed to call him a chef with the way he cooked? Marco wasn't sure what to think of it since food and cooking were rather precious to him. However he was very happy with how fully equipped the kitchen was and with the ingredient quality and he was going to let Airi know that soon. |
