Using Posting Templates

What is a Posting Template? It's a handy little feature you can find by going through your user profile. It saves your coding so you can use it on any forum without needing to copy and paste a code every time. (Which trust me, can get pretty annoying!)
You have a Posting Template section per account, so you only have to save the template that that one account is using. This means if you've got both Ash and Misty, you only need to save the code you want to use for Ash on Ash's account, and the code you want to use for Misty on Misty's account.
Be warned however, the Template section eventually has a size limit for the amount of coding you save. I recommend that you delete any of the extra "filler" text in the middle of your post (usually done as Lorem Ipsum in a lot of locations) and just write something like "hey your post text goes here!" You don't have too, but it's something you should consider.
(If you want an example of why having post templates saved is handy, just look at the code I'm using now. I keep it saved so I never have to copy+paste, copy+paste, copy+paste every time I want to make a post.)
SO. Onwards to how to do this!
STEP ONE - click on your icon! This will take you to your user profile. Alternatively you can also get to your profile in a number of other ways but you can discover those on your own.
STEP TWO - Click on EDIT PROFILE! It will be in the options near the top - above your basic information boxes.
STEP THREE - Once in your profile edits, find the section that says settings.
STEP FOUR - Here is where it gets a little more complicated. I find that I usually have to refresh the page once or twice for the Posting Template section to show up. (Don't know why - it might even just be my account(s) that do it thanks to my laptop or something.) If you load the page and don't see the template, just hit your f5 key (or, if like Rue's computer your f5 is broken go up and manually refresh the page either by hitting enter again in the address bar to reload, or finding your browsers refresh key. I've been told that command+r is the code for Macs.)
Once it shows up, follow these simple steps.
1. Click "Create" (just above "Delete") Write the name of the template in the pop-up box. Feel free to name it whatever you want. Personally I name mine "posting" (for roleplay posts) and "reply" (for plotter replies.) Hit "save templates" and you should be good to go.
2. Click the drop-down and select the name that you just created. If you don't see a name you probably saved it weird. Once you've selected the name drop-down, post the code you want to use in the box. Hit space at the end of it (but feel free to then delete the space right after.) You have to make the box register that you added a code and it doesn't seem to do that if you just copy+paste it in.
3. Check that the template name and code you just pasted in are what you want to use. If they match up, hit "Save Templates." Hit it a few more times, just in case.
4. Switch back to either the --- section, or refresh the page. If your code is still there when you check the section you saved then congratulations, it worked! Otherwise repeat steps 3&4 until its saved. (Honestly it doesn't take too much work, I am personally just paranoid!)
And voila! You've saved your post template to use on the forum! You can do this a few times to save a few different templates if you'd like. If you don't have a template (which you'll need) snag one of the ones Venus made or go hunting through resource sites for one.
I also suggest - while you're there - you set your settings to save drafts and default to the BBC code page and not the preview page.
