DID I MENTION WE WERE FLAILING WHEN THE ANGELS CAME AROUND
APPEARANCE [attr="class","agar"]As strange as it is this day and age, the first thing you notice when looking at Gilroy is the katana that can often be found either strapped to his side, or held in one of his hands. Although he does not bring it around everywhere, he does actually utilize the weapon as part of his daily training and exorcise regime. Like most in his family he was taught the art of sword-play from a very young age "just in case" and, "for the honor and privilege of our family." His eyes are a deep liquid amber color; pools of shadows that seem to just pull anyone caught in their gaze to the depths of his soul. They are rather exotic eyes in comparison to the rest of his family. Far too often they are guarded, filled with a blank mask to ward off harsh remarks made by people who are unaware of his true heritage. His eyes have always been a constant struggle for him even from a young age. Because of his true bloodline, Gilroy's skin is a nice creamy chocolate and drastically different from those of his family. He passes it off most days as self-tanning as well as spending too much of his own personal time in the sun but the fact remains that he will never truly look like one of the Wards. He has a small scar running from above his heart across to his right hip; thin and old it has faded only a little over the years. A mark gained in one of his daily training sessions courtesy of his grandfather. Snaking up his right arm is a tattoo; given to him when he was barely sixteen it is an almost tribal design of a snarling Gyarados done in black ink with only the smallest hint of deep red color. From wrist to the back of his shoulder blade it clings to his body in a twisting coil. While it is the mark of something he's not overly proud of, Gilroy often just passes it off as something he does out of boredom without ever giving anyone a real explanation for it. Gilroy keeps his thick dark brown hair a bit on the long side with bangs that often cover his eyes. He opts to leave just one strand longer on the right side, bleaching and dying the tips of it in varying shades if red (based on fade-factor) for his own amusement. On occasion his excess hair can be found braided if he has nothing else to do. He enjoys dressing casually if he can get away with it. Shoes made for everyday street use, black jeans and a white t-shirt that's maybe a little too big for him. A pseudo-army style jacket can be found either draped over his shoulders or actually on his body though very rarely does he bother to button it up. Even if he is forced to wear something a little more formal - such as a suit and a tie - or in other street clothes, he is never seen without a necklace of simple river-stone and his gloves. He is slightly on the tall side of things, just under six feet tall when not slouching. Though he has some muscles they are, in a sense, tasteful. Born from years of a strict regime he may not be able to bench press a thousand pounds, but he can at least easily defend himself even without Pokemon at his side. Gilroy still maintains a somewhat youthful appearance though it is clear that he's not a child even without seeing the rest of him. His voice is just barely deep; a hint of rumbling bitterness in an other-wise honey-sweet sound. | PERSONALITY [attr="class","agar"]He's a bit of a party animal and playboy. When Gilroy sees something that he likes, he goes after it. This has led to a few minor scuffles if that 'something' belongs to someone else and one or the other has to walk away to lick their wounded pride. He doesn't always resort to Pokemon battles either; his fists work just fine in many cases. However, he also holds to a rather ridged code of morals that he will follow until death. Even if he does not wish to be around his family currently, anyone who insults the Ward name or what they stand for quickly finds themselves on the receiving end of his anger. He does not believe that the Tribes should be granted even the most basic of rights, taking his family's view on things and considering them savages who need to be tamed or removed. He holds nothing back against those who have come to be a part of the assimilation project. Almost too often he will go out of his way to mock them, if not just openly attack those who manage to fumble over something and mess up even the most basic of things. He cares very little in getting to know any of them personally and holds a mild disdain for those who remain neutral in the conflict. Although he considers himself a Pokemon trainer he has very little drive in furthering his career at one for the time being. If he chooses to return home to his family his travels must stop, but if he continues to train he could lose the possibility of returning home and gain the ire of his family. Because of this he is in limbo, training while he can but avoiding choosing his fate. He can be fiercely loyal to those he considers friends. He will do anything and everything he possibly can for them, though should they do something outside of his beliefs he will be forced to turn a blind eye, neither helping nor hindering them. The fact that his brother hates him wounds him deeply even to this day and he tries his best to ease the pain by avoiding situations involving him because of it. Although he cannot stand anyone who might be in a Tribe, he also cannot stand to see the helpless (citizens) harmed by others. He will often step in and knock about someone bigger who is picking on someone weaker. Children especially are a soft-spot for him as he cannot stand to see them cry; much in thanks to his own insecurities as a child and the bullying he faced due to his strange looks. Even to this day he is slightly defensive about his appearance. |

[PTab=BIOGRAPHY]
AND THEY JUST SAT THERE THEY WERE WAITING FOR THE FIRST OF US TO DROWN
BACKGROUND [attr="class","agar"]Hemi ♂ - Anahera ♀ Hendry Ward ♂ - Cherette Ward ♀ - Kayetan Ward ♂ Born to the Itripal as Kai he was taken away from his parents at the very young age of five by an agent with a slightly more materialistic view on things. He - and Feather - were brought to Richitev City and placed in the care of one of the many families that made up the main base of the Government (though the Ward's are far from high up on the political totem pole, they still hold some power.) It was there that Gilroy was raised as an adoptive child and assimilated in a much different way. He remembers nothing of his life in the Tribe. Maybe a flicker of sunlight glinting off the water, or the sound of splashing as various aquatic Pokemon played. But they are merely ghosts; figments of a past that he is doomed to never recall. The story was that he was the child of someone that used to work for the Ward's; a helper who had been loyal to the family for decades and at their passing the family had felt strongly enough to adopt him as their own. Being raised like one of their own he grew up mildly spoiled, although not outright rotten. He is the same age as their biological child and his brother, Kayetan (though older by a mere two months) and was therefore labeled the family's heir above him despite his unconventional position in their family. Unfortunately this did manage to anger Kayetan and their somewhat rocky relationship is now almost non-existent. In their earlier years the two were thick as thieves with Gil often taking the blame for whatever mischief the two of them had managed to get into in order to protect the younger boy. As they grew however, Kayeton slowly drifted farther away from Gilroy and everything that he was due to jealousy. Gil for his part took it in stride, throwing himself and Feather into training to raise his companion Pokemon. When the boys turned fourteen is the last time he can recall his brother ever having anything civil to say to him, if he even speaks to him at all. He holds very little love for the Honedge he was given as his rite of passage and mark of the future heir to the Ward family. At the age of sixteen Dragomir requested his presence at his family home. Not one to turn down such a powerful man (and old family friends) Gil's parents urged him to go on his own. While there he was given his tattoo - a reminder, Dragomir informed him - of what he was and what the Ward family had been helping to train him for his whole life. He hates the damn thing and pretends that it doesn't exist as often as he can. When he reached the age of eighteen he set off on his own, choosing to live in a small little apartment just big enough for his needs rather than continue to live in the family home. Although he is considered the "wayward son" and constantly asked to come home so that he might assist in family maters Gilroy attempts to visit the Ward Mansion as little as possible if simply not to encounter his brother again and his constantly foul mood when around him. | POLITICAL VIEWS [attr="class","agar"]Raised by an extremely supportive family of advocates Gilroy wasn't even given a chance to form his own opinions on the matter (even as an Itripal by birth.) While his family had been raising him to take over as the head of the family eventually, they had also simultaneously been training him to become a strong member of the Assimilation Enforcers. While he might often skrit that duty it still won't change the fact that he can be downright nasty to any person unfortunate enogh to have been a tribe member at one point or another. Of course, there's no telling what might happen should he ever find out his true heritage... |
